Haven't really devoted myself to blogging as much as I usually do or would like to do. Sorry about that folks. It's been a little consuming on my end trying to get my graduate package ready and sent out and stuff with Issame and his unemplyment status.

He met with a lawyer yesterday, I don't think he's going to file the discrimination suit. He'll most likely take their package and hopeful they'll appeal his disqualification for unemployment. It's so crazy, I know I'm a bit bias but this stuff really shouldn't be happening to him.
Love you, baby boy!

Looking forward to catching up with Courtney and Adil tonight. I'm glad that he's back and that they are able to spend some time together.

Apparently it's supose to hit 55 tomorrow--we'll see about that.

I'm very excited, we have a celebrity on our website at Girls Inc.
Hint: She's nominated for an oscar and she gets to ride one of these

Issame came to visit me at work today and went out for a very nice sushi lunch.

I finished my graduate school application. Here's my statement of purpose:

I want to further my education in art history so that I may introduce and teach the history and importance of art. This decision began with my internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art when I met the Curator of Photography and expressed my opinion that photography was a science, not an art. He hoped that I would change my mind someday.

Later at a Gordon Parks exhibit, I realized the importance of looking at the world through an artist’s eye, so I challenged myself to pick up a camera. This experiment taught me the importance of seeing and experiencing art and I wanted to guide others through the process. My position as a docent at the Metropolitan and Guggenheim was a great arena for me to present challenging ideas of looking at art.

My father, an antique weapons collector helped develop my fine eye and stressed the importance of research. In high school, my Humanities teacher Mr. Franzetti further fostered my appreciation of art on a class trip to the Metropolitan where I declared that I would work there someday. Every year, he invites me to return to his class to share my enthusiasm with his students. The foundation that my father and Mr. Franzetti provided helped me decide to focus my graduate studies on the general history of art.

Recently, I started collecting artwork by Moroccan artists. I have been fortunate to spend a month at a time with my husband in his native country of Morocco and discovered that there are minimal resources available about their work. I would like to expand on these resources and create a stronger dialogue by placing these artists in context on the art historical timeline.

Hunter College's broad approach to the history of art will enable me to become a good art historian and professor. I appreciate the opportunity to study art history on a graduate level; my educational background and museum docent experience demonstrates my commitment to this field and has prepared me for the challenging work ahead. Achieving my master's degree is a personal as well as professional steppingstone and I thank you for your consideration.

Keep thinking good thougths that I get in.....

A co-worker sent me this interesting contest: Win 10 Grand

It's cold again but they are talking 50 degrees for the weekend. Ah, how nice would that be.

Issame and I made a donation to the vicitims of the earthquake in Morocco. I wish there was more I could do.

I spoke with my friend Courtney today and found out that her husband Adil is home from Iraq for the next few weeks. We are going to meet up with them for dinner this Friday night.

Devastating news. Morocco was hit by a major earthquake this morning. It happened in the north near a port city and thus far 300 people have died, they suspect the number will rise. Keeping those families affected in my thoughts and prayers. Issame called home and no one we know has been affected (as of yet).

More bad news, Issame was denied unemployment benefits--it's a long story but we're appealing the decision. They sayed they fired him because of a bad standing but they are giving him a 2 month severance package deal. Makes no sense to me that if someone was let go in bad standing that they get a generous severance.

Today, Issame has his road test and its a snowy wet mess outside. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the Moroccan Road King passes.

We could both use some good news today.

Grab a hold of your nearest love one today, hug them and tell them that you love them. Every day is precious.

Shower some love and make a donation to help those affected by the earthquake in Morocco. I speak from experience when I say that a little goes a long way there. Thanks!

Weekend Update

Friday Night Follow-up
Vanessa and Adil came over for dinner

Friday, February 20, 2004

Yesterday was one of those days that just ran away from me. I needed to leave work early to go to a doctor's appointment.

Turns out I'm ok and just another victim of the germ infested winter. "I don't have menigitis, people!" While on my way to the doctor I ran into this hunky soap star. Pretty cool, eh?

Afterwards on the train, I had an ephiphany about my statement of purpose and ran back to work to write it all day. My deadline is March 1, gotta start cracking the whip.

I met Heather last night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) for a performance, Pericles. It was 3 freakin hours long. I was exhausted by the time I got home and fell asleep in my clothes. Woke up late for work!

Oh, yeah and this is what I would personally like to do to that idiot who got on a Royal Air Morocco (RAM) flight and then called his family to say he was being kidnapped.

Here's the story.

Here's another interesting story about Morocco

Need to wake up............

Had dinner with my brother last night. He starts filming today --they are turning one of the plays he was in, into a film. For posterity not so much for fame. The play may turn into an off-broadway play where he would then get payed but so far no word on that happening yet. He did audition for another play and got the part--rehearsals start next week for that.

Gotta love the kid though, he's living his dream. Broke as broke can be but living off the dream.

Still feeling really tired today but I have a doctors appointment tomorrow .

Keep on keeping on.......

It's a bit after 4 p.m. here, got about 2 hours left to go. It's warmed up a bit outside but they're talking the big S-N-O-W. Ugh! Just what we need.

WEEKEND UPDATE

Saturday
HAPPY LOVE DAY TO ALL!!!

Woke Issame up early for a hearty breakfast and to get him out the door to head over to Bay Ridge to watch the final cup in the Africa Cup of Morocco vs. Tunisia. He was all decked out in his Morocco t-shirt with the National teams jacket and a huge Moroccan flag that he wrapped himself in.

I spent the morning cleaning and headed out to Carvel to buy an ice cream Valentine's Day cake for later on.

I tried to get online to see the score but was having trouble with the DSL. Then Issame called and I was all excited to find out what happened and he says, "don't speak to me for the rest of the day." I replied, "considering today is Valentines Day, that might be a little bit hard." Turns out Morocco lost to Tunisia 2-1. Sorry guys.

Then the guys went to play some indoor soccer and work out their frustration. I'm sure they re-lived the last quarter of the game where in this version, Morocco won. I was so exhausted from cleaning, that I tried to nap for awhile on the couch. I was just about to doze off when the doorbell started ringing wildly. It startled me and I jumped up and opened the door. Just as I opened it a bouquet of roses fell on my feet and there was no one to be found. I poked my head out further and found the cutest Moroccan in the world hiding behind the BBQ on our porch. What a sweetie!

We then got all dressed up to go out for dinner. We went to his wonderful Turkish restaurant called Istanbul over by the marina. The food was absolutely amazing! I have never tasted food like that before. We had a large Shepherd's salad and hummus for starters and then we both had the Special Adana Kebob with is ground lamb spiced , then wrapped in filo dough with a special sauce. OMIGOSH! C'est magnifique!!! We ended the evening with some Turkish coffee and Issame attempted to tell my fortune from the stains inside the coffee cup. A trick I learned from my best Armenian friend, Ramela. Issame's fortune came true, it showed a guy and a girl kissing--how appropriate for V-Day!

On the way home, we stopped by our friend's pizzeria, a fellow Moroccan, so that he and Issame could discuss the game. Ali looked really ill and when we left I asked Issame if he was alright. Apparently he took the loss f the game very hard and was so sick that he couldn't keep any food down. An eccentric fan!

We returned home to several messages from a couple we've been hanging out with ALOT recently-Adil & Vanessa. They apparently wanted to go out to dinner with us for the V-Day. So they stopped by and we told them to go have dinner at the Turkish place and then come back to our house for ice cream cake. They then persuaded us to go back to the restaurant with them. So there we were an hour later back in the same place. The hostess thought something terrible had happened and came over to see if we were ok, we explained to her what happened and she was thrilled. Issame and I ate the salad and hummus AGAIN! So delicious.

We then ended a very lovely evening with ice cream and laughs at our place.

Sunday
Happy Birthday, Susan B. Anthony! You rock girlfriend!

Was suppose to meet with my friend Heather today to go to the Museum Dia Beacon in upstate New York. But Heather had such an awesome time the night before at a V-Day party that we decided to postpone our trip. It was just as well because I was still recovering from this cold and needed the day to rest and get some paper work done. Had the place to myself with Issame and Ilyas out for the day.

Monday
It's President's Day. A day to honor presidents who have served, not by buying a new car or togo shopping but to take a look at where we've been and where we are headed. Thanks GW & TJ!

Don't forget to register to vote!

Had an easy going morning with my Habibi. Made sfinge (fried Moroccan donuts) and Moroccan tea. Then we headed over to Vanessa & Adil's place so Issame could cook Moroccan sardine and fish tagine. Again, an amazing food experience.

Issame is such a talented cook. He showed Vanessa and I how to clean the fish, make the stuffing and then fry the fish. he then prepared the tagine with salmon steaks and veggies and then slow cooked it in a tagine. The four of us them watched a movie devoured the sardines and then slowly indulged in the fish tagine. Yummy

I ended the evening watching an interview with Mel Gibson discussing his new movie the Passion, the story about the last 12 hours of Christ's life. I'll probably go to see the movie, I'm quite curious to see how it is portrayed.

Movies I watched over the weekend :
Get on the Bus
City by the Sea
Sopranos ( Season 4, disc 1)
Deliver Us From Eva (LL Cool J is hot!)

Today, Tuesday
Had to head back to work. Left Issame sleeping so sweetly and soundly in bed. I wanted to stay there with him. Feel very sleepy today just want to curl up and nap somewhere.

Am meeting my brother for dinner tonight in Queens. Hope I can keep it together. Hope you enjoyed our weekend...I did!

Here's to love in your eye....

It's now almost 4 p.m. and it's been a real slow day. Feel very sleepy-I want to nap at my desk.

One more hour to go.......

Friday, February 13, 2004

Even though it's Friday the 13th, the day has turned out pretty well.

I found a doctor to go to but she can't see me until next Thursday, work is ok, I am starting to feel a little bit better, just am really tired and dehydrated.

Morocco plays against Tunisia tomorrow and then after the game, Issame promises to do something nice for me for . We shall see.

Big 3 day weekend ahead and I am really looking forward to it. Made some progress in my statement of purpose and am aiming to have something completed by Thursday. Relax, you know I'll share. Think I'll just curl up with some take out tonight and watch movies. Issame is doing some electrician training with a friend tonight so I think I'll have the place mostly to myself.

Enjoy the weekend one and all!

Thursday, February 12, 2004

Well it's back to cold again. Still am sick, this thing is just dragging itself out.

This is our busiest time. So much work to do I feel like I'm drowning a bit. Trying to keep it all together and focus on what's important.

I wish I was in Florida right now.

Forgot to post my little V-Day countdown......2 more days for you gents to get your butts out there and get us ladies something worthy of our love.

What are you waiting for? Start running..............

Morocco vs. Mali today

Issame is going to watch the game in BayRidge

Dima Dima Mahgreb!

My interview went well. It was rather quick. She answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. The only challenge for me will be my GRE scores. I don't do well on test like that. Keep the fingers crossed.

Love is in the air...3 days to go....wonder what Issame is planning

Some suggestion would be:
1. A romantic trip
2. Flowers are ok but on any other day.
3. Candy. I am trying to watch my figure.

4. Smooching over a little din din and some mood lighting. Hmmmmmmm Dreamy.

It really doesn't matter because no matter what we do, this is where we'll end up...
