"The Dueling Duvets"

Posted by Hello
Prior to SIL & BIL coming together and getting a bedroom set, Habibi and I decided we wanted to spruce up the bedroom and make it more adult looking and not like a hospital/dorm/supply room. We chose our palettes carefully and well the theme of course is Moroccan. So for quite some time now I have been on the search for the perfect comforter /sheet set and have looked in many Moroccan decor books to find the right color combo and design and when I close my eyes, the above image is what I see. Low and behold-there they were waiting for me at Bed, Bath and Beyond (echo: beyond, beyond, beyond) However it was made of silk and the duvet alone was $150. The 2 pillow shams were $40 each! What's a girl to do?

SO I went home and thought about it, discovered that I did have several 20% off coupons and went for it. I go back and what I hadn't realized the 1st time is that what is this delicious duvet set called? Why of course MOROCCO. I start laughing and think this is a sign--meant for me. I gather my things and out of the corner of my eye what do I see but another duvet set--same pallette only darker (see image below) What's a girl to do, now I'm in love with both of them. This 2nd set is $100 and comes with everything, the duvet, pillow shams and bed skirt. I can't decide so I figure let me get them both and have Habibi decide. It isn't until I'm on the line when I look to see what the name of this set is...CASABLANCA. Of course it is, why wouldn't it be? So of course, since Habibi is from Casablanca he wants to keep that one especially after he finds out how much the other one cost. But I was still torn. I like Casablanca but when I close my eyes and see my dream bedroom, Morocco is laying on my bed. So shame on me, I got them both. I knew if I returned Morocco, I would always have this twinge of regret and always compare other duvet sets to it. And Casablanca is nice and homey and fits well with the winter season. So that's its, that was my dueling duvet dilemma.

Prior to all this of course, I had to figure out what the heck a duvet was? I called my mom up in the middle of BBB to reprimand her for not raising me properly. I came to find out that she too did not know what a duvet was, so I saught out a kind faced BBB employee who giggled a bit but was nice enough to fill me in on the mystery. So of course, now I have to wait until BBB sends me another coupon before I can go and get a decent comforter to insert into the darn thing. But I feel very Arabian Nights in my new well, causi-new bedroom.

Stay tuned for tomorrow as I tell you all about the Home Depot fiasco and Mitch the oaint mixing guy....

Okay Stacey - I like both of the bed sets but really prefer the "Morocco" one. You have now got me thinking about redoing our bedroom. I have been working on the rest of the apartment but did not give a thought to our room. Now I may just have to go out there and look around!! Enjoy!!!!

I know you are not specifically soliciting votes, but mine would be cast for "Casablanca." I like both patterns though. I'm jealous! We have duvets, too.... In Germany, most beds have TWO...one for each sleeper. I am not sooo happy about this method, but it sure makes it easy to "make" the bed.
